Dashboard searching somewhat muddled

Greetings,

After a semester of using ThinkBook, I finally realized what dashboards were and how they would help me. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get them to work like the one in the tutorial, and I don't know why. In a “today’s todo list” notebook, I placed a “master notebook” link, then added a todo find that finds nothing when it searches “This Notebook” (e.g., "Teaching" in the image below), but it finds them when it searches “Everywhere” (e.g., "Research" and "Service"). This might be okay, except that in this case it sorts the “From” categories alphabetically, which isn't very helpful. The todo search options seem straightforward, and mine match those in the manual, but I'm not getting the same result. Any suggestions?
